"I recently removed the heads on my 1994 88hp Johnson outboard and I noticed on the bottom of #3 cylinder there is about 3 – 4 pits in the cylinder wall, however I see NO scaring on the walls and the rest of the cylinder looks good. The compression is 110 psi; however I’m not sure if this is accurate, I noticed that I might have had a head gasket problem. (IS THIS A GREAT CONCERN) The other cylinders are 120 psi. I really don’t want to perform overhaul if it is not necessary. What would cause the pits? I ran my finger nail down the area and it does not catch my nail."
