cut the red wire no the orange no wait ..BOOM

Ok another 79 470 question the stock starter has no solenoid on it but the new replacements have one and the book shows the orange wire going from solenoid to solenoid but my boat has the orange wire going to the circuit breaker then out the other side then spliced into a red power wire is it ok to cut the orange wire off the power wire cap it then cut the orange wire and go from solenoid to solenoid. The books I have don't even have a orange wire listed where it should be in the breaker its just a circle with a number but no color to goto it.
