"I have a 2002 Silverton 33 with 5.7 MPI's. During sea trial's in the spring of 2008 the RPM's WOT was 4800, now I cannot exceed 4100 RPM's on both engines. I also changed both fuel filters and washed out the primary filter screens, and the bottom is clean. Any advice would be helpful."

How about your fuel. It might

How about your fuel. It might be getting old or maybe you now are using ethanol laced fuel. Your power will be less with the ethanol fuel. It would be odd for both engine to have the same problem.

"I'm betting props. Last year my boat (my first boating season) sat for a month during the barnacle high season on the bay. When I got back on her at WOT I could only get 3000rpm and she never came up on plane. I dove down and saw the props were completely covered with barnacles. After pulling, cleaning, and painting the props, she was back to her old self.

I know a lot of people do not believe in painting the props because the paint will eventually come off and/or performance reasons. But what I’ve found is the paint will at least make it through the barnacle high season. Of course there is nothing like running her to keep the sea life at bay. That has probably done more than any paint can do.

"Good point, David.

After an engine change on mine, that took sevral weeks, the props had so many barnacles on them the boat wouldn't plane off. And they will NOT come off by merely running the boat. You have to scrape the little ~*@$! off.

PS: I usee a putty knife on a rope that goes around my wrist for underwater scraping jobs. Got sick of loosing the things."

"I'm with these guys - schmegma growth.

Once you guys try PropSpeed, you will be sold on it. Better performance than the original surface plus antifoul protection that stays on."
