Crusader Captains Choice 6.0 injector issues

I have a boat with a Captain's Choice 6.0 which I bought new in 2006. In 2011 it started losing power at high revs and I had the injectors refurbished and replaced. Having the same problem this year and am being recommended to do the same again. Is this normal? I understand that marine conditions are rougher and we don't put lots of hours on the engine; probably under 100 a season. Just want to be sure I'm not getting hosed here. I have never had injector issues with a car.

For power loss at high revs one looks first at fuel rail pressure to insure it is to spec at all speeds. Next I would look for ignition system issues (dirty/cracked distributer cap, incorrect adjustment of the famous "cam retard", etc.) Assuming all that is good, then injectors are a possibility. They fail due to clogging, not because of regular use (like a car) but because they sit idle during the off season. On my boat sending them all out for flow test and cleaning resulted in two being replaced for no or low flow and one replaced for stuck open, so it can happen. If the color of the plugs varies a lot then that would also suggest injector issues.

The point being (maybe I wasn't clear) that injectors are way down on the list of possible causes. If all other (cheaper/logical) possibles have been checked/corrected then maybe injectors are the problem. If injectors are included on a laundry list of things they recommend doing now (such as plugs, filters, distributor caps, etc.) then you are being "hosed" into paying for a something that you likely don't need. So what has been done so far, and what are they recommending next?

I spoke with the Marina Owner yesterday and he said the injectors were a possibility. I had the same issue about 6 years ago so this seems to have put injector issues on the short list. I just emailed him to see what they checked so far as he didn't tell me specifically.

Thanks!
