Crusader Blue Paint

Hi everyone

I’m rebuilding my 1970s 307 CID (one of the Riva Marine models). Does anyone here have recommendations for the best match for Crusader blue paint, and ideally where to source in the UK or Europe? I’ve read elsewhere it’s the same as one of the Ford blues but there are so many varieties online (with inconsistent naming) I’m scratching my head somewhat and reluctant to buy cans on a whim. Old Ford blue, light ford blue, corporate ford blue, ford tractor blue, GM blue…..

Alternatively, if someone knew the closest match on a RAL chart, that would make things much easier and save me a long trip to the nearest paint merchant.

Any other advice or learnings on repainting these would be very welcome. I’m planning on sandblasting most of the auxiliary parts, mounts etc. that I’m reusing and degreasing/wire brushing the block and sump. Applying a good quality, high temperature enamel primer and paint. Some have mentioned powdercoating but I have no experience with this.

Thanks in advance

This is the best option, IMO:

I had my local automotive paint supplier custom match a quart of single stage industrial enamel. The best option that I've found in a can that isn't made by crusader, is Rust Oleum "maui blue."

Safety blue works as well, but I believe its a little darker:

There's also "sail blue," but I have not tried it yet:

Thanks! Unfortunately they're a little difficult to find in the UK. I've ended up biting the bullet and purchasing a can of OEM Crusader Blue from a marine shop in Europe. It wasn't any more expensive than VHT alternatives and hoping it looks OK so I can find a local paint shop to colour match.
