Crusader 5.7 potential repower choice question

I have a Monterey 194 FS with a Volvo penta 5.0 GXI and VP leg. Engine requires replacement and I'm interested in the crusader 5.7 captains choice (current model).

Simple and probably stupid question - will this engine mate with the existing leg?
 
Ayuh,.... The Long Blocks will swap, plug, 'n play,....

Fully dressed bobtail motors, probably not,.....

Wirin' will be different,....
Attachment points will be different,....
Exhaust outlets will probably be different,....
Etc,.....

I'm keen to update all the bits and pieces so bobtail was my first choice. just sick and tired of various bits breaking down so everything new is what im after.

will the 5.7 Crusader marry up with the existing VP stern drive ?

Ayuh,...... I imagine it would have a flywheel cover, 'n coupler to marry to an inboard,...

You'd still need to use the Volvo flywheel cover, 'n coupler,.....

Even then, nothin' else is gonna be a perfect match,....

As I said, ONLY the basic Long Block is exactly the same,....
 
You can swap the flywheel cover and get a new coupling....and you'll need to get a new starter or have the VP one rebuilt....Like Bondo said, the wiring harness will be different as will the exhaust elbow outlets....nothing major but its not gonna be 'turnkey'..
