Hey guys, stumped on an idle issue on my 86 crusaders. Motors are fairly newer with about 400 hours. Both run great top end and idle. However, started having come idle issues on oort motor, checked fuel, okay. Carb was dirty. Removed and installed new carb, so I had less down time, have old carb for rebuild. Btw, Rochester quadrajet..
Install new carb, fires right up. Adjust idle jets. Running smooth. Does not like returning to idle. Play with idle adjustment. Run boat, top end is great, cruises no problem. Return to idle and rpm hangs up around. 1000 rpm or so. Shut motor off and it will return to idle speed.
Another issue, on first start up, starts hard cold and once warm, when putting into gear, the motor takes the load and begins to hang up and stall as well.
Somewhat lost.
Checked timing,good. Fuel, good. Has electronic ignition I believe. Is a spring hang up possible in distributor?
