"Is the bell housing bolt pattern the same on the 5.0L (V8) as the newer 3.0L (Inline 4)?
I am looking at a twin 5.0L vee drive inboard, that, if I but it, I would like to repower with two 3.0L.
It looks like both engines are standard rotation, so if they will bolt up, I think I can make it work.

"The merc stern drives (3.0 & 5.0) take the same flywheel cover so the bell housings have the same bolt patterns. the only caveat was for the I/L4, the 3.0l, aand it was 1990 or newer.

I see some Serious Problems with a Swap like that but,...

Chevy blocks(the 1s we use in boats), All of them since the 50s use the Same flywheel cover Bolt Pattern....

Now,... There's been a multitude of Other changes,...
But the Block's bellhousing Bolt Pattern isn't 1 of them....
Block for Block, an early 3.0l will bolt into the same housing as a Brand New BBC..."
