ok im rebuilding a 1987 150. i needed a new crankshaft. i put the new crank in. pistons are in. crank case is still open. when i turn the flywheel in the correct rotation its smooth and quiet. when i rotate it in the wrong rotation i get a "click" from somewhere near the bottom of the crank. i cannot pinpoint exactly where is coming from but it only makes the noise in the wrong rotation. should i be concerned? any idea what it can be?

Yes, be concerned and find out what is causing that click. I have no idea what would cause that and I've installed quite a few of those crankshafts.

Did it "click" before you connected the c/rods to the crankshaft?

Possible piston skirt slap?

i had the top bracket on the rod turned ....when i tightened it down it would torque the rod making it rub the crank. works fine now thanks
