Crankcase ( Merc 50HP Blueband)

Hi All,

After all your help from my previous post i have got my motor running real well ! Thanks,

But whilst giving it a quick look round while running in the tank; before placing the covers back on the unit i notice a fine hair line crack on the crank case which vents water i think on the exhaust stroke,

Any ideas if this can be brazed or do i need to investigate futher ?

The compression on each cylinder is 110 pounds so has not afected that side of things,

Where exactly is this crack? A photo would help.

Jeff thanks for the reply i have attempted a photo the crack is between the two carb's just under the white mark i added before taking the photo ,

It runs horizontal accros the case just below the ridge you can see in the photo ?

Uh-oh! It shouldn't be there. Is that one of those old Mercs with a distributor? If so, I probably have a front case I can sell you, cheap--and it isn't cracked!
