"I have a 1998 Johnson 150 hp
"I have a 1998 Johnson 150 hp ficht with hard fuel rails. It was sitting for 4 years prior to my acquiring it. I have replaced everything from gas cap to low pressure lift pump. including new spark plugs, water pump and thermostats. All new fluids including gas. I can get the motor to start sometimes, run and mostly stall on its own in idle. I can never get it to start twice. The bulb is hard and fuel poors out the engine fuel filter when I pump the bulb. I changed the ground wire from the battery to block and now I can hear the electric or high pressure pump priming. I was told that these symptoms could be either my lift pump, electric pump, vapor seperator, or emm (computer). All of these are expensive to replace. How do I know which one to start with? There is no fuel pressure gage inlet in between the high pressure pump and injectors. The lift pump is directly attached to the vapor seperator so I cannot test these with fuel pressure gage either. HElp me through this none please. Marine mechanics around here cost $100 dollars/hr."
