Yes There are many on line ref

Yes There are many on line refurbished marine engine sellers.

I did a 350 long block for a inboard ski boat a few years back ~ 3-4 and the block was $1900.

That included the heads.

Probably about the same cost or just a bit more for a 4.3l.

do the research before spending ANY MORE money!!

Check Craigslist maybe you could find a good used one.

Buying a good used engine per

Buying a good used engine per Kghost is an excellent way to go. Many good complete engines are pulled just because the owner wanted more power or the boat sustained hull damage. Even remanufgd. complete "dropin" engines are available. Check eBay Motors.

"Is an inproper winterization

"Is an inproper winterization the only thing that can crack a block? What about if it was winterized then taken out and it immediately overheated to about 210 degrees, pulled it out replaced the impeller could that have cracked the block? Overheating?"

"not to 210, 260-280+ good

"not to 210, 260-280+ good chance of blowing the head gasket, but not cracking the block."

"Over heating is definitely no

"Over heating is definitely not your friend but freezing can cause a lot more damage. If you live in a place where you have cold temps I would be hesitant to buy a used motor because of the same reasons, it froze.

There are hundreds of engine rebuilders, your best bet is to find one close to you to minimize shipping. A lot of them don't do just short blocks because of warranty issues. At least around here. But if you go for a long block you will have other choices for your engine power.

Closed cooling systems are a must on the saltwater but I'm beginning to think they are a must in cold weather climates as well. They alleviate a lot of these kinds of cracked block problems."
