Hi all, first post and new boater! Just purchased a little Avon inflatable rib, mostly for river use but I travel to the coast sometimes. A reason I bought this one rather than a trolling motor canoe was so I could take it out in a harbour too. I know the guy who sold it to me and he's said I can bring the motor back if it's unworkable as it needs to be woken up after 4 years unused. As we were about to start the process, I noticed a crack in what my engineer friend says is the flange. My question is- for irregular use, is it worth me hanging onto this 2 hp? It cost me $120 (£75) and looks like everything else would be a lot more expensive, esp as I can get my friend to service is and wake it up for me at no cost.

Here are some pictures- the first is the crack as is. The second is when I try to flex it with some effort (not easy) and it opens up very slightly. The third is the context.
Would really appreciate it if you have any advice- would it be better just to take it back and buy something similar or is it a decent deal? Maybe it would be alright as I'm not planning on using the motor very much.
Thanks
Ed
