Hi all,
I went to get my boat ready for summer and discovered a crack in the bellhousing.
It's a 1998 Maxum, with a 4 cyl motor, Alpha 1 Gen 2 leg.
The crack goes through where the water hose connects and comes out where the drive shaft goes through.
I spoke to a shop here in town that said they can weld it up no problem, then re-tap where the water line connects.
In the pictures, the crack is hard to see so i showed it in red (Don't mind the dog hair, it gets on everything LOL.)
Will this hold ok with being welded? It's 800.00 CAD for a replacement where welding is way less than half the cost.
They did mention that if needed they would also weld on a support plate to ensure it doesn't have an issue under stress from the outdrive.
