My evinrude is leaking tw-3 oil out of the exaust cavity after shut down and pulling the oat for theday. 105 deg one of the days.Is this normal? Also I have been draining and replacing my gear oil at frequent intervals(every 8 hrs of operation) and it keeps getting dirty. When I went through the lower the old oil had been in there for 25 years.I am thinking the new oil has a little detergent and the gear box still has some residue causing the dirty gear oil and I am continuing to change frequently. No water in oil,no metal to speak of.Thanks-B
 
Both times this weekend I fished with it I ran out about 3 miles wot,trolled for 3-4 hours then ran back at wot.Gears and bearings looked great minus a little sludge stuck to the housing.I cleaned it off the best I could when I did the complete reseal.Got 2 Rainbows on fathers day :)Thanks-B
 
Be happy with the fish, and quit worrying about the motor. Who said they were supposed to be clean anyway? In fact, by today's standards they were downright sloppy. But reliable.
 
Im sorry to interrupt your page, but can someone please tell me how I can post my own question ( thread ) . Also this wouldnt proably have one thing to do with your engine, but Im sure You know this only use non-ethanol hi test, ethanol kills motors of all types that were not built for it. Also on the oil they have removed zinc from all motor oils You buy at your local auto parts store. You can order it or find a store that sells racing parts and they should have all types of oil.
