If you have a Mercury Inboard 5.0L Engine with the following facts:
1. Occasionally used in salt water
2. raw water cooling system
3. stored out of water on boatlift
4. after each use flushed with fresh water
5. finished off with "salt away" to manufacturer's instructions
6. also fitted with "guardian" pulsating unit
Question:
Taking all the above into account, what "corrosion" life expectancy can one expect before the casting separation fails and water penetrates into the engine?
Any factual advice or actual data would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
