I'm troubleshooting a no spark condition on my 89' Force Outboard and have found that I was getting power to the magnetos when the key was in the "on" position. My question is where does this wire route to in the ignition circuit. It was hooked up to the power side of the ignition switch when the key was on. I think it should go to the switch to be grounded when the switch is off and neutral when it's on but am not sure. Any help is greatly appreciated.

"Jim,

The ignition system turns off by grounding when the key is in the off position. This is done by a white wire (usually) which grounds out the CD units. This wire runs through the harness and should be connected to one of the "common" terminals on the key switch. These terminals are usually designated "M" on the switch. The other "M" terminal should be connected to a black ground wire. If the white wire was hooked up to 12 volts (accessory or ignition) it would probably fry the CD units.
