"I just reassembled my 9.9 Mariner with a new impeller and water pump housing, etc. I noticed when running the engine in a tank, that the water flow is to some degree intermittent. I wondered if the flow should be steady, varying only with engine speed or whether there is some sort of thermostatic control of the water flow. I'd rather not ruin the motor if it's not cooling correctly.
Any wisdom on the matter would be welcome.
