Cooling system

Please help.
I am about to burn up. I been having issues with the cooling system on my 1995 40hp 2 stroke mercury.
I replaced the water pump from base housing even oil seals. But still have the same issue.
Runs fine at idle but as soon as it's revs up it starts spitting water and air.
And looks like it could be floods the drive shaft housing.
Any help would be great.

Just tried blowing air through the the outlet outside the cowling.
Blows through but can't feel it coming out the pipe that connects to the water pump and vise verse.
But it's not building pressure. It's going somewhere. I bought the online manual but it has nothing on this troubleshooting this issue. And there's nothing about how to test it to see where the problem could be.
i have spent all the money I had left in my budget on water pump kit and voltage reg ,manual and still at square one no boating. Please any one that's had this issue before or any one of you experienced guys help me get back on the water ASAP.
Thanks

Hummm... From your explanation I'm not sure what's going on here, but try this: Rig up a way to test the LU water pump in a bucket. You'll need a 3/8 or 1/2 inch drill to spin the drive shaft. The photo shows how to adapt the drill to turn the drive shaft. The socket/ drill adapter is available at Harbor Freight and other places.

Hi
the impeller was in great condition. But replaced it anyway.
I am going to check the water pump tomorrow.
And planing to put the garden hose on the copper pipe and run it slowly to see what's going on with the system in the motor. That's seems to be my biggest issue.
Thanks for any info or advise. Am a real novice at this.

Mostly salt water. It is a used motor I bought a few months ago.
It has been running fine. Since I had it I have been flushing it out with salt X after every use.
I could take it in to the dealer, but he's just over a 4hour drive away. So would like to sort it out with the help from you guys.
Thanks.

well the water hose on the copper pipe showed a problem .
more water come out from the upper seal just under the power head in the exhaust cover.
been looking at it, is there a way to change that seal with out removing the powerhead.
I think that might be over my head.

Hi
I know its off the subject abit.
but was wanting to know what this small black hose coming off the top of the gearbox.
It had a small hole and leaked a few drops of water. so tried to take it off. the white plastic fitting broke off due to salt build up.
I was thinking of just plugging it.

water pump working well.
the only thing I can think it could be is that top seal on the copper pipe.

after an wild google search found out it could be a speedo hose. could I just leave it open.

Oh yea permatex No2 is one of my favorite tools in my opinion silicone has no place anywhere on any engine. Put a liberal coat just below the top of the tube and let it set up, you want a nice tight fit.

Thanks. I will give that ago.
The tube was sort of loose a slight tug and came out.
will see how that goes

Thanks a lot for the help. Will post the outcome

Yip. That's it.
I had that problem. One bolt snapped. And I have the head off.
The housing was totaled. It was cracked up at the part that holds the pipe.
I will post pics.
Thanks for the help.
