new impeller, heat exchanger looks clean wondering if i have balls? in my t joint, raw water side? looks like water is lacking out exhaust.and!!! getting a stream of water coming out weep hole at bottom of leg. is this normal? some say yes some say no...any help ????

improper gaskets, leaking water pump base allowing hot exaust to get sucked in,leaking water pocket cover, kinked gimbal to transom hose, clogged power steering cooler.

If your cooling system is a Full System (engine AND exhaust manifolds), won't you have an engine mounted sea water pump?
(the A drive pump is typically too small for V-8 full systems)

If so, this would mean that everything up-stream of the pump is "suction", and must be in dang near pristine working condition!
One tiny suction leak kills the entire system.
This also means that any suction hoses must resist collapsing!

no sea water pump, just impeller in leg(new)..found 2 small pieces of gasket in heat exchanger.hav'nt checked pw steering cooler yet.is the cooler like the heat exchanger? lots of small holes or does it have a big diameter? as this is the first part water enters after leg. will check in the spring as have to rip entire rear down to access raw water inlet hoses...thx rob

Yes. Bits of rubber from an impeller that breaks up can block the inlet side of the cooler. If you are in saltwater they can corrode. I backflush mine annually. If you are a contorsionist you can remove the hose from the inlet side and have a look. You may need a bright light and mirror on a stick to see if it's blocked.

it sucks when the impeller breaks off little pieces of stuff and it goes everywhere. the weep hole on the alpha drive to my understanding if water comes out its good, if drive lube comes out thats bad.

yup will be reverse flushing in the spring ,shouldn't have to clean or replace risers as the've been replaced with aluminium...just gaskets as some coolant loss due to worn gasket...........cheers to all thx for the input.......rob
