Cooling issue

I have Chrysler 360's - port engine today shot up to over 200 degrees. I quickly shut down and found about a gallon of coolant in my bildge. Had a ton of air in the coolant system.... Filled again and ran OK...any ideas? Could a t-stat stick?

it could be thermostat,causing it to get hot and the the coolant came out of overflow.Did it get hot again?If not then yes i would replace thermostats.

You might also have had air trapped in the system. You have to "burp" it sometimes.
