Cooling Hose from drive to sheild 1993 DPC

"I pulled my outdrive today and was very surprised at the deteriation since last year of the "S" hose from the drive to the shield. I am going to replace it as it is very stiff and in poor condition. I am looking at parts book and it is showing no clamp on the shield end of the hose. My question is does this just pull off at this end or is it clamped with a lip inside the small "manifold" Volvo is calling a hose nipple?
I'd post a link, but nobody has a DP-C diagram online and I can't scan a book at home."

I'd also install a new water neck fitting if I were you.

BTW, If you do not know this already......, I'd strongly suggest that you pull the transmission from the Intermediate housing first. This makes the balance of the work much much easier!
Likewise, install it last when re-assembling your drive. "

You have to remove the pipe on

You have to remove the pipe on the inside. The hose has a collar on the inside which seals when the pipe screws are torqued down.

In many cases, removing the entire drive is un-necessary. Entire drive removal (as a unit) adds to the difficulty, regardless of work scope!

In addition, with the transmission ONLY out of your way, this suction hose and water neck fitting that you are working on (and the shift cable bracket), all become easily accessable.
This is also the easiest method to use when replacing Drive Bellows. Much moreso than if you were attempting to remove or hang an entire drive as a unit!

"Maybe this link will help. You are right, it shows no hose clamp on the transom shield side, which is a deviation from VP past practice on all other models (all of which have two hose clamps). Morten's post already tells you how to do it.

"I already pulled the whole drive. But I will take the advice and reinstall the upper seperately. With just the single engine, the inside fitting was fairly easy to get to. Now I just need the replacment hose to arive."
