Was the engine winterized with anti freeze in the raw water circuit?
If so it is probably some leaking through the pump impeller and sea cock, nothing to worry about.
Note that coolant should be replaced at least every second year in the fresh water circuit as the corrosion protection ability is reduced. If the coolant in the expansion tank gets 'rusty' it is a typical sign of 'old' anti freeze."

"no, the boat wasnt winterised. It is being used regularly. The coolant was put into the coolant sump.....but just showed up when we were launching here under the trailer. I spoke to one guy who suggested that it means the heat exchanger is leaking, as the coolant shouldnt be in the same circuit as the seawater intake - what do you think?"

"Did You put it into the expansion tank on engine, the plastic reservoir, or by mistake in the raw water filter?
Any coolant in the bilge?
Which Volvo diesel are we talking about?
You might try to borrow a pressure tester from a radiator shop or car work shop and pressure test the cooling system. The tester should fit on the cap of the cooler."
