"I have access to a yamaha 175 outboard. My boat is set up for an omc sterndrive. the upper gear case is shot, the motor has issues. This is an older boat, 1976. Can I convert the transom to accept an outboard motor? Any advice on this would be appreciated..."

Brackets specially made for the job are available.ARMSTRONG is one brand $$$$$ they are. But with a welder some tube / pipe / plate / angle iron you can easily make your own.Look it up on google under " outboard transom brackets " to get the ideas.
