Converting a 40hp Merc to Electric Start

Hi All,

New here and thought since after hours of trolling the internet, more experienced users might be able to help me. I have an 09 40hp Mercury Lightning XR, it is a pull start. I know I can convert it to an electric start, but not too sure on where to buy the parts needed from. I'm in far north Qld and the only boat dealer is a few hours away. If anyone knows of any websites, that I can purchase the parts from it would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes it is cheaper to trade off for another motor with what you want than to peice together what you have. The convergen can be rather costly and time comsuming, as you will need a charging system along with the starting system. There are several websites that are parts salvage sales on the web. Go to search engine and search for marine salvage parts and go from there. You will have to have a real good service manual, or someone good with motors, in order do the work also. Best of luck.
