" considering 1968 18hp fastwin purchase. points ignition does not bother me and the fact it is 36 years old does not bother me but am curious.
were these dependable engines? were there any on-going problems a person needs to be aware of?

" The design was the same (basically) from 57 to 77. Parts are plentiful and they are a wonderful motor.Make sure the coils are not cracked and make sure you keep water out of the bottom end. Put a new water pump impeller in, since there is no overheat warning system. "

Jim I have one that is a 1968 year and wouldn't part with it. Very dependable and easy to mantain
