"Hey,

I was told that I need to replace my condensor on my AQ125B. On the parts page it says that there are no condensors in stock for the 125B. On the list above, there are several models that have condensors in stock. Does anyone know if condensors for my model are interchangeble with any other models?"

"Do you have the single wire, round nose plug condenser? Sierra carries the square plug. Whatever, cut the plug to the old condenser leaving an inch of wire. Cut off the plug on the new condenser leaving all of the remaining wire. Strip the wire ends. Tin the ends. Slide on a piece of shrinkable tube. Twist the wire ends together. Solder the connection. Install the condenser in the normal way.

Alternately, consult the dealer or buy one off of EBay."

"Dennis,

Thanks a bunch for the link. I have purchased the parts and am hoping that this cures the problem. Hope that the parts can get from Ohio to Maine before this weekend!
Thanks again!!"

"Don,

A buddy of mine who is an airplane mechanic looked at my boat engine the other day and when I explained the problem, he looked at my entire distributor and told me to replace the cap, rotor, points and condensor.
Dennis provided the link above to get all of this on the cheap and I did it yesterday. I personally do not know how to tell but my buddy said that it was "probably bad" and all of the above components should be replaced. See the "Installing points" thread. Eric has a couple of alternatives to the whole condeser/points thing

"At this point just go with an electronic ignitor kit, you will be much happier in the short and long run. Either Pertronix or hot-spark work great and take as much time to install as the points and condensor. You will still need a cap and rotor but you won't be checking or changing points and condensors again. Also they run better if you get any moisture in your cap. Good luck."
