Computer makes two sounds and then reduces to 2500rpm when running 4200rpm

Engine has only been run 2 hrs

Engine has only been run 2 hrs for past 2 years. New fuel pumps on 8.1 ltr volva with 240 hrs. Have used additives for fuel and condensate and runs good with slight stutter at 3600 rpm when increased to 4300 rpm after 3 min computer emits 2 sounds and engine cuts back to 2500 rpm. Cn then slowly return to 3600 rpm' Any one know this problem

Sounds to me like the ECM is entering overheat protection mode. Check your oil pressure and engine temp. for starters.

Starboard Riser is r

Starboard Riser is running 10-15 degrees hotter that Port which activates ECP. New h2o pump-no help. This is on volvo 8.1 ltr ge engine. New manifolds yast year. Riser at sensor that fails is approx 185-190 degrees. All guages ok. Any suggestions?

"Part #7 is the temperature sensor that will place the ECM in EPM. With the engine cold, take a multi meter and record the resistance from the center post to ground on both the starboard and port sensors. I believe you will find these sensors to be 'normally open' (NO) and upon an overheat scenario they close.

If this is the case, you could bypass the port side sensor by unplugging it (creating an open circuit) and test to see if the boat operates above 2500 rpm. However, if you have verified that the port side riser is running hot, I would remove it, inspect it and most likely replace it to avoid costly damage that may ensue. Good luck.
