" hi there kristina
ive been working on ship engines for a while now and i might be able to help one little test is take out the spark plug and pull on the motor starter cord hold thumb over the hole (but keep away from the spark lead otherwhise you might get a big 20,000 volt shock that lets it go numb) anthor test is take off the cilinder head then hold your hand over the hole when you turn the engine over you should feel a lot off compression you will only feel compression when piston is moving down normly its at a 100/1 on the bigger engines but on the small engines its 80/1 ratio if its not 80/1 or 100/1 you may have a damaged gasket
