Compression and 96 Mariner 60hp

Nice forum!

Looking at buying a 96 Mariner 60. Idles good, looks great but compression
values are 103 104 and 106. I know the hours are low, but, these compression
values seem low to me or are they ok for this model. Any advice/thoughts appreciated.

Good numbers for an 18 yr. old engine. Were the throttles wide open on a warm engine?

I would be happy with those numbers - all close +/- 3 psi (spec is +/- 15 psi) - Merc doesn't list a "standard" compression value in the service manual for this model year (not that I can find)

Not sure. Will be going to check it out carefully tomorrow, so hopefully it measures up operationally.
Mainly concerned with the compression values - your view of those is nice to hear and your 'ounce of prevention' advice is well taken.
