Common fixes for idle issues

What are some common fixes for idle issues, carb cleaner - sea foam etc ....

My little 6hp is no waning to idle- Evinrude E6RECR - trying to find a repair that I can do
 
First... Make sure you have compression on both cylinders.
Second.... With the s/plugs removed, make sure that you have a strong blue spark that will jump a 1/4" gap with a strong blue lightning like flame... a real SNAP!

If the two above areas are as they should be, the most common cause is a fouled carburetor, in which case, remove, clean thoroughly, and rebuild as needed.
 
Thanks for reply, I have a feeling it is the carb. I am not much of a carburetor repair person. I get nervous about screwing up all the settings.

I will check the plugs for spark also
 
I think I fixed it, I bought a can of sea foam spray and did the spray and soak three times. The last time it wanted to idle so I revved it up and ran it for a bit and brought it back down to idle. It sat there and idled for about 5 minutes with no issues.
