Cold start problem 1997 Johnson 130

I have a cold start problem w/1997 Johnson 130. It is on a 1997 Crestliner 1850 Sportfish. It acts like it is losing it's prime after it sits for a day or so. I have put a new OMC primer bulb on it and fuel filter. I have checked all exposed fuel lines and have found no leaks and I do not smell fuel. I have also had the quick start valve changed. It takes over 30 pumps on the bulb to get it kinda hard, I do have it going the right way. It cranks forever on the first start, but then runs and starts great the rest of the day. I do push the key when trying to start it. I would like to find all of the fuel line and tank, but that means pulling the floor, not an easy project on this boat. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Hendo 67

Yes.. I hold the key in while it is cranking. The thing that has me baffled is the bulb never really getting hard. I am thinking vacuum leak, but don't know where to look. I never smell any gas.

The bulb must go hard !----You have #1 a defective bulb -----# 2 a leak inside your tank ----# 3 a leak in one of the carburetors------# 4 a leak in the fuel pump.-------# 5 leaking hoses.

Thanks for the help. I have put a new OMC bulb on it and in the right direction. Would a bad anti-siphon valve in the tank cause this Problem? The thing that is weird is that once the motor starts then it will start fine the rest of the day and doesn't miss a beat all the way thru the rpm range and runs great at WOT.

Hold the bulb in a vertical position once with the arrows up and see what happens. Also, next time you're running it, push in on the key and see if it wants to start flooding the motor. That will tell you if your primer is working or not.

I am having basically the same problem. I have 1997 50 HP on a lakesport. It may crank and start in three seconds and run fine today, all day with numerous starts. Take it out tomorrow or leave in water overnight and it doesn't start. We have replaced/rebuilt entire fuel system. Still having the same problem. I have narrowed it down to some type of electrical problem as we have now determined that it does not have spark on the days it won't start.
