Coil test help....

I know there are a million posts and videos out there about testing coils, so I'll go ahead and say it now maybe I'm an idiot but they all seem like they are speaking Spanish to me. Mine is on a 2000 125hp elpto. Part number of the coil is 827509-A8. It has a plug with 4 prongs and of course the spark plug wire. Where do I put the negative and positive posts of the multimeter/ohm??

You have a CDM ignition system.

Here is the way they are tested.

The service manual doesn't specify and I can't really think of a reason why it would need to be mounted.

You are testing the integrity of the coil itself between it's (pins), not between the coil and the engine ground, trigger feed etc etc.

Should work either way is my thought...

The ohm readings check out good, but when I switched the meter to the continuity test it never beeps where it should have continuity. And this is while the coil are removed.

Google the DVA adapter. I have a couple that I think I paid under 20 bucks for (shipped). Used to be a small engine guy (dirt bikes/atv's) that made up his own and sold them online (name totally escapes me).

Not really much to them - just goes "in line" between the meter and test leads and are "priceless" when trying to troubleshoot outboard ignitions.
