Coil replacement

I have a 15hp johnson running with 512227 coil s.one of them is dead.
Can i replace both with a twin unit 583740 or 185170.
Sadly this machine is a bitsa made sometime in the 80s 90s. So i cant give an exact model.
Hmm buy one or a twin type for about the same money.
