Coil heat

Thanks, I changed from a ballast resistor system to a straight coil with no need for external resistor and must have hooked up too many wires to the coil. Do you know where I can find a wiring diagram for a Crusader that does not use the ballast resistor in the system?

it would be like the standard one with the ballast resistor....just "short" the resistor or redraw it inside of the coil's case. Should be a purple wire. Ideally only one, from the key (IGN) to the + on the coil. The coil's - will likely have two; one for the tach and the other for the pertronix (trigger unit, points, etc).

I just connected mine yesterday. My wiring diagram is on the boat. They are in the back of the electrical section of the service manual.

I installed a two wire EST system coil. Grey wire went to grey wire on the old coil.

Purple Wire goes to the purple wire from the harness and the yellow wire from the alternator . This should have been connected to one end of your ballast resistor. The purple wire from the starter to the ballast resistor can be removed.
