"mechanic 10yrs ago sayd save you money by grinding clutch dog/curved indents w a dremel.seen him do it.afterwards would not stay in neutral to start.grabbed the shift rod under power head w vise grips, clamped it in neutral.spun prop so neutral right.. crank then immediate pop into gear.adjust rod 1/16 up clamp same result.kept same procedure throughout the matbe 3/8 1/2 inch gap,not enough to even think about a cable w slack. if in could get n and foward i would b thrilled but not even enough gap to start.anyone hear of such a thing.do you think other parts in rebuild are un riggable n are probably good.is it the plate. bottom line im screwwed. has not been used so should b easy dissasembe, n what should b expected cost of parts if all is ok except grindhouse plate..yes ha ha on me 550 for the rebuild that never was. since i burned up the starter being so annoyed at it. now 10 yrs later gotta revisit the pain"
