I removed my lower unit to change the impeller. Now when I turn the prop manually it makes a clicking noise. I am positive it was not making this noise before removal. Is it somehow in gear now? How do I get it back into neutral?

I would drop the leg and check

I would drop the leg and check that the shift shaft hasn't turned as you reinstalled..turn the shift shaft on the leg manually to neutral position..use a socket and wrench to turn it ...then bolt it back up

I have the lu off right now while the crack in it is being welded. Should I just be able to turn it and then check to see if the clicking noise disappears? Is there markings on it to show the neutral position?

"There are 3 postions, centre one is neutral. make sure it is centered then spin prop...make sure your shifter (remote) is also centered in neutral before reinstalling the leg."

Turned the spline shaft a quar

Turned the spline shaft a quarter turn with a pair of pliers and the clicking sound went away when I turn the prop shaft.
