"I have recently purchased a 2
"I have recently purchased a 2001 240 Sundeck Sea Ray with a Merc 350 Mag MPI. The outdrive (OD) is a Bravo Three w/ Twin Prop, 2.00 ratio. It has been used in salt water but I am in fresh water. I have also changed the anodes to Aluminum from zinc.
The OD is making a clicking sound when under power (moving)with a small vibration at low rpm and speed. The clicking sound does not seam to increase or decrease with movement from left to right of the OD.
With the help of this message board, I removed the OD, and inspected the gimble bearings and the U-Joints. The gimble bearing rotates smoothly with out any noise or gritty feel with out any play. The U-Joints appear to be almost new and have the greasable fittings. The U-Joints do not have any play either. When idling, no clicking sound. Reving the engine does not make any noises or vibration. The engine runs great. I have greased the gimble bearing and the fitting behind the motor (ujoint shaft area).
There is a swim platform so I cannot see the OD when in motion.
How do I evaluate the upper or lower unit for this clicking sound? Also, what is the torque spec for the 6 bolt that hold the outdrive on the transom assembly?
Thanks for your help,"
