I have a Rochester 2 Jet carb. I have it apart to clean it up due to some problems with the engine loosing power at full throttle. But over in the accelerator pump area, the little ball bearing is well stuck in the hole. I haven't managed to get it out (would welcome ideas), someone suggested using heat, but I haven't gone there yet. But reading old posts in this forum looking for clues, I only came across the comment that suggested I might not notice the difference leaving it in there. I have been considering buying a new carb if I can't get this freed up, but maybe I don't have to? I think the quote said something like "I bet the majority of boaters out there that have the little ball stuck in there have no idea, and haven't noticed".
So if I put it all back together and use as-is, will I notice the difference? I didn't seem to have accelerator problems before, now that I'm thinking about this.
Boat is an 18' Starcraft, 1985-ish, aluminium, with 120 Mercruiser engine (Iron duke)
Thanks very much - this looks like a good forum and I was happy to join today.
