Clamp Screw Questions

I searched but must be searching wrong as I cannot find anything about Clamp screws. I have 2 questions.

1) How do you remove a clamp screw ? Once the cup on the end is removed, it seems like it only unscrews so far and then it won't go any further.

2) How do you free one up when they are seized ? I've got one that works perfectly and one that won't budge.

These are for 1976 6hp Johnson but I'm guessing it works the same for other OMC motors.

I can't answer part #1
On #2 soak it good with Liquid Wrench or another good penetrating oil and it'll free up

Cut the end off with a hack saw and then unscrew it or run a die over to clean up the threads.

#1. If the cup is off, oil it up and turn harder.

#2. Isn't so easy. If it won't free up with your favorite mouse milk, drill it out and replace it. Or replace the whole stern bracket.

Have you tried using thumb screw in your search?

Use a propane torch to heat the bracket...The point of the flame is the hottest point...take your time and wait for the bracket to absorb all the heat. (Several minutes) Do not use a lot of force.
