"I just purchased a three cylinder, Chrysler outboard motor, pobably from 1970's. Can anyone tell me where to look for the model number or serial number on the block? The belly pan plate shows it to be a 1059 HE. However, I believe the power head was changed."

"Kevin, the 1059-HE was originally a 105 horse built between 1975-77 (in the 1059 HD-HG series).

I'm not familair enough with Chryslers to know if they have any indication on the head itself as to the model or serial.

OMC's/Mercs/Yami's of that vintage have a welsh plug (silver disk about the size of a quarter) on the waterjacket (powerhead usually somewhere near the sparkplug end of things) with a number/serial stamped in them, so you may look for one. They can however, be difficult to locate on larger engines, often burried under electrical or other panels..."
