Chrysler outboard 100 not pushing water out

I was given a boat with a chry

I was given a boat with a chrysler 100 that runs great but will not spit water out of rear of engine...I just changed the water impeller but still will not push water up the shaft to cool motor...any other suggestions pls help...

"i believe so i changed out the rubber propeler in the water pmp and water began to shoot out..Question the water comes out than it will stop and sprinkle out for a minute than shoot out again...is that norml for this engine.

I'm not sure. I'm stil

I'm not sure. I'm still trying to get mine to water. It only squirt a little water out and over heats quicly. I took the center out of the thermostat and that did not help get more water. I think I got the wrong impellar and have ordered another which is part 18-3085 and will put this in this week for another try at it. The other impellar was not big enough I think to push the volume up the engine. What impellar did you get?

"Are u submerging the motor into a filled tube...i tried putting ears on my motor and it also barely pushed water out. then i read that those motors are hard and have to be submerged in order to get water to flow..try this and let me know how it works for you...Also if the motor been sitting for a while put Simple Green in water to break up dirt,and grim in the pump and shaft."
