have 76 mod 6hp chrysler outb

have 76 mod 6hp chrysler outboard cannot seem to be able to remove lower unit .have removed 4 bolts and allen head bolt from selector rod any info greatly appreciated

"Shayne..... Chryslers are not my line of expertise, and hopefully another tech with the proper knowledge will jump in here to answer your question. However, many of the smaller horsepower engines have a pin that extends through the driveshaft just under the splined area. If this is the case with your engine, the driveshaft must be turned somewhat in order for that pin to line up with a slotted area that exists. That would allow the pin to clear and the lower unit to drop away. I'm assuming here that you have disconnected whatever mechanism controls the shifting.

I finnally got it apart ,the drive shaft was frozen into the motor due i think to years of sitting around.After i got it apart i found the water pump impeller was beyond repair, i have sourced one and was shocked to find that it costs $120.20 australian.so have purchased one 2nd hand from local OB wreckers for $20 it,s in and works well.
