"Since I am new to boating, and am not familar with marine engines, I have a question. This weekend I was reading about changing impellers. I looked at my engines and am at a loss on where they are located. I followed the hoses up to a what looked like a box with a pulley on the front. Is that where the impellers are? Next question is where do I buy new ones. Thanks, Mike"

"Mike
If you follow the hose from the seacock to the engine it will lead you to the raw water pump. Most have to be dismounted from the engine and taken out onto the dock or home to be worked on.
There is a plate that is removed and the impellor comes out the rear. Take that one to a marine store and get new ones, always carry spares and tools to so the job. Also replace the hoses if they are original. Also check around with friends find someone to help thats done them. And make sure you close the seacock before working on the pumps"

"Hey, Mike, listen carefully: BEFORE you remove the pump to change the impeller, take a Magic Marker and label the HELL out of it! Note which way everything went, which hose went where, etc. If not....

The housings can be mounted in several ways, but they work properly in only ONE way!

Guess how I found out about that!

Jeff"
