Hello,

It's been a while since I posted here but I've always found the advice very helpful. I recently found a crack in my right hand rotation engine in my 78 Trajan F28. I am trying to figure out who my best bet is to purchase a long block from and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

I've heard a lot of nightmare stories about long blocks and and tehre areso many out there for sale it's hard to figure out whohas the best product.

Any Suggestions?

Thanks
Hoss

I purchased a Block from Rapido (out of Miami) phone calls to them was "different" but they sent me a good block for a good price. When it comes down to it, it's all a gamble. (I can say that now my re-build is finished)

Where are you located? It makes a big difference in shipping costs.

Jeff

PS: Bought a long block and am still satisfied 5 years later.

Hi Jeff,

I'm in Boston.

I heard about 1800 Runs New which is local and shipping is free. They carry First Mate Engines which I've heard mixed reviews on some good andsome bad.

I'd be willing to pay a little more andevedn pay shipping to get a good product with a good warranty.

Any info you have is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Hoss

Bought mine from Marine Power Sales in New Jersey. They sell Vesuvio (sp?) rebuilts that are pretty good.

For my previous boat, I bought two GM 350 long blocks (RH and LH) from Marine Engines in Holliston (1800RUNSNEW) and had a really good experience. This is a family operation with some very knowledgeable people. I was trying to switch parts from two old 327s and was close to being over my head, knowledge-wise. I called them a number of times with questions and they knew exactly what I was talking about. Free delivery saved some money too. I'd highly recommend them since they guarantee all the rebuilds they sell. I put 700 hours on those two 350s and they were running strong when I sold the boat four years ago.
