Chrysler 135hp starting probs

"hey guys i have a 135hp chrys

"hey guys i have a 135hp chrysler on my boat but i got a crack in the number 3 bore so i wrote that motor off and bought another witch was rebuilt 18months ago run once on thest bench and never run again, now i have it on my boat but will not start..
it seemed to fire once or twice then the starter got hot in the process and died so i put the one off the parts motor on and cranked it didnt fire atal and 2nd starter died and was hot also now the solenoid just click..
so end of the day i now have 2 probs i cant figure out"
 
You can't run those starte

You can't run those starters more than 30 seconds. Any chrysler that does not start in 15 seconds has a problem. Compression/fuel/spark----

"maybe thats why it died then, found a guy with one for $120 but how long should i leave it between cranks while trying to make it run?.. it has 140psi in all cylinders, pulled a plug and turned it and it has spark and fuel was connected and primed altho i did notice that fuel was dripping out the front of the carbs.. could the carbies be playin up and stoping it from starting.. its got me stuffed i dunno what ta do next, i have a general knowledge in cars and motorbikes but any help much appreciated"

"Sounds like your needle and seats are stuck. This is a very simple carb to work on -it's been referred to as a tin can with a hole in the bottom. Let starters sit till cool to the touch. When you go to start this engine, spin with starter, then push in on key to engage the choke. Release as soon as you get fire. They will not start with out some throttle- and tap choke to keep running till warm. WOT timing for that motor should be 26 degrees and initial pick up should be on the mark of the (cam) throttle opener. All throttle valves horizontal when at WOT. Just like you multi cylinder motorcycles."

no worries looks like i will have to get the new starter tomoz.. as for the needle and seat i will go get some carby cleaner and go pull both the carbies off and try clean the up.. any tips for cleaning them like do's an dont's

"got new starter and got it running, put it in the water started and idled but then will not get acceleration.. when i accelerate it just sorta floods itself and then cut out.. tried to get it started today and will not run only kicks abit backfires once or twice then dies so have no idea if i cant get any ideas on it i might just take it to the shop..
altho on the + side i got my trim working

also when it was sitting in the water running in neutral it started steaming out the 2 holes below the bak of the cowl so i turned it off, what would be causing this"
