Choke stuck on close position???

Ok, so after rebuilding my carbs, the motor is reving like crazy on startup even though it's on neutral. I rechecked and even rebuilt it again for a second time and everything is nice and tight and all hoses are where they should be with zip ties. Carb link is attached as well as oil pump link.
When I choke my motor, it just makes a clicking sound and the butterflies in the carbs do not open or close at all. Does that mean my butterflies are stuck in the close position? Can that also be a reason why my motor is reving like crazy on startup? Please help guys...It's been almost 3 weeks now and I'm getting frustrated.
Again this is for a 1996 mercury xr6 150hp outboard 2 stroke motor.

You don't have a butterfly type choke. Modern motors use an enrichner for priming the motor. That is what you hear clicking. Do a link & sync exactly as given in your manual.

That's the problem, I don't have a manual. I'm watching and learning clips of people from youtube. LOL. I'm a true DIY guy LOL. Those of you with the same motor, can you help by sending me a copy of the link and sync for the carbs?

Over time a manual will provide you with a lot more useful info than just a link and sync procedure, they are well worth purchasing. I got a cheap copy from one of the forum members on here, they can be bought via the link at the top of this and every page on the forum, you won't regret spending dollars on one once you have it. You'll find yourself picking it up time and time again to sort out a wide range of issues and for just general information too. I'm sure someone with a similar outboard will be able to help you out but consider getting a manual anyway, they're invaluable when your chasing electrical issues, shifting problems, and anything else you care to mention. All the best with sorting out this outboard.
