I believe that "wandering" is the nature of the beast (22' V bottom) @ idle or slow speed and cannot be stopped unless you have twin counter-rotating props or engines. My 19' Baretta does the same thing at speeds under 6-8 mph.

"X2 Just learn how to find the middle point while its wandering and it will keep as straight as possible. My 22' Challenger 22* deadrise, pad bottom V does the same at idle speeds. It's actually steering wander and not chine walk. Chine walking takes place at high speeds. Now mine chinewalks at 73 mph on the GPS!

"You might check to see if you have any side to side slop in your OD.. If gimbal ring where the tiller pin goes in is worn, the drive will swing from side to side making the boat wander, and with a kicker running, it may be acting as a loose rudder.. I was lucky with mine, I was able to loosen the clamp bolts, and slip some shims in beside the tiller pin then tightened it back up.. It felt like a whole new boat afterwards. At slow speed, I can take my hands off the wheel, and if the trim tabs are set right, the boat goes straight as an arrow.. It's also a very deep V hull (Ebbtide mid cabin).."
