"My 1972 ChrisCraft XK19 has an original chevy 350FLV that claims 320HP on the original paperwork. The block is very rusted internally and I am pretty sure I cracked the block due to freezing. I have the engine out already and all the accessories are really good.
My problem is that I can't find a source for a rebuilt long block. There are plenty of sources that claim 260HP, but I can find none that claim 320 HP. Is this just a numbers game, or are their real differences? Where is a 320HP long block available to fit all original accessories and engine mounts?"

"If you remember car power ratings in the '60s and '70s, they weren't too honest. I wouldn't trust ratings unless they were taken from a dyno test. The only 5.7L 320+HP motors I have seen lately are in ski boats and performance boats. Indmar has their marinized LS-1, MCX, etc and I would be willing to bet that the original specs on your motor were generous. I could be wrong but it's too late to check it out. Google 'marine replacement engines" and you should be able to find something. GM Performance Parts specifically excludes marine applications from their warranty."
