Cheaper alternative to Yamaha Ring Free

"Now that I'm the proud first-time owner of a four-stroke, (yamaha 25 hp) everyone tells me I should use "Ring Free". Makes sense to me, but is there an equivalent product at the auto parts store that doesn't cost as dang much??!!"

"Doug, Just-In-Time can give you a more definative answer, but here's mine.

Take the cost of a bottle of ring free and then divide it by the cost of your nice new motor and see how many places it falls after the decimal, then tell me that it is expensive....

Keep in mind too that a 4 stroke is not forgiving like a 2 stroke is. If you neglect it you will have another nice new motor in a couple of years and this one will be decorating a junk yard...."

"Hello all, I am the new owner of a Yamaha 25HP 4 stroke, My 1st time use the motor at lower open speeds seem to be just as loud as a 2 stroke motor. Now at Idle it is very very quite but when reaching 2000 and up rpm's again it seems its just as loud as my 2 strokes. Can anyone give any advice or should I carry it back.thanks Ron"

Thanks. A mechanic friend of mine told me the same thing. Said he uses it in all his cars,trucks, boat. Has 250K miles on his Jeep without any repairs."
